Hypnagognic Hallucination
November 16th, 2006The hypnagogic state is that state between being awake and falling asleep. For some people, this is a time of visual and auditory hallucination.
Apparently, seeing spiders is quite common for people who experience hypnagogia.
In Michel Jouvet’s book, The paradox of sleep, the story of dreaming, he explores his discovery of Paradoxial Sleep as an additonal state of the brain. His experiments discovered that a part of the brain controls muscle and body paralysis when we sleep and dream. If this area of the brain is affected, the body will be able to act out in the dream state.
This thread is very interesting to those experiencing spider hallucinations.
