so amazing

May 5th, 2006

Props to Temperance for finding this amazing example of post-modern painting at Murdoch school in Winnipeg. This artist was well accustomed to the finer techniques of this style, using both expressionistic brush strokes and a well- balaced colour palatte that screams with raw emotion. I really, really love this. Really.

sweet old age

May 1st, 2006

right. My 26th birthday was a blast, great to see everyone that could make it out. I watched the sun rise, for the first time in forever. Unforch, I really neglected to take any photos. I was too busy schmoozing. But I’m pretty sure I’ll get my hands on some of my friends photos. We made way too many harsh Jello shooters, and I also think the punch was quite popular. I also love my new dishwasher, I don’t know how I handled the clean-up process before, but it must have sucked. My brain-cells are suffering right now. Thank you Andy for finishing the kitchen, best present ever! love it!

new toy

March 28th, 2006

Today I picked up a new Sony HDV-A1U camcorder for work. No doubt about it, it’ s pretty sweet. As the newest edition to my video camera family, its definitely the baby. The baby you can take anywhere due to its tiny size. It fits me like a glove.
I’ve already done away with the bulky microphone and adapter for everyday shooting, although the double XLR inputs will come in handy for lavalier mics. Supernice widescreen LCD display, and lens. The touch screen menu is cool, but I’ve already run into trouble with locking myself out of certain settings. Its seems as though you can’t operate a manual exposure setting, and have manual access to the shutter speeds. This camcorder is a nice addition to my Canon XL1 and my grandaddy Sony DSR-200A. It’s sleek, small and super low-pro. Even if it doesn’t offer complete control, as a high quality portable handheld, it seems more than adequate. After I’ve used it for a while, I’ll give a more in depth evaluation.

In light of recent events, I’ve changed this post. I realize that I was probably being unfair to the people I don’t know checking out this site. That said, it still would be really cool if you introduced yourself. If not, whatever.

Best Costume Ever

November 30th, 2005

Temp just stopped by to comment on my Halloween costume, and it just reminded how much my costume pales in comparison to this:

Here’s the article in Vice. In case your not familiar with the conjoined Schappell sisters. I’m not saying that making fun of conjoined twins is funny or anything, but this costume makes me want to blow up.
In a side note, Reba (the smaller of the twins) is an aspiring country singer. And when she performs, her sister Lori has to pay admission to get in. And during the show, Lori is covered in a blanket.

Caninjas and party people

Yowza, hows it going? Me. pretty good. Had a good weekend tooling around with Adrienne. She’s in town to promote her clothing line and new product the caninja. Check this shit out :
Caninja Official Website
This is a seriously dope winter necessity. If you live in Winnipeg you need this shit. Leave it up to Adrienne to finally figure out what to do with all those “Cosby” sweaters hanging around. I’m rocking one non-stop, my office is freezing. Should be available at Kings Sports on Portage Ave. the Haberdashery on Corydon after today if you want to join the coolness.

Dream Diary:
Dreamt I got a call from the graphic designer at work saying he hurt his back/neck and wouldn’t be able to come to the office all week.
-update *Graphic Designer not in office today!* Magic? Physic? Coincidence? I’ll let you decide. (I think it’s magic)

oh
P.S. *Minneapolis peeps* I got a little happy with the delete button and lost your email address. If you check back, try again.

Abdonded house

Originally uploaded by nicemag.

Hello y’all! Welcome to the new iteration of my website. I admit, it’s extremely overdue. I haven’t updated my site since May 2004! That’s all gonna change now. I’ve connected my Flickr account to this neat-o bloggy thingy. Which incidently, I fucking hated doing at school. But that was Movable Type, so its completely different. I will learn how to customize this damn template goddamit. I will also be looking into some sort of spell checker, because (Bears Eat Candy And Usually Swallow Everything) I really need the help.

Here’s a photo I took this photo in an abandoned house in rural Manitoba. It was really beautiful during the day, but there was a definite Blair WItch vibe, and I wouldn’t want to be there at night.
